Thousands without power in Tennessee

TENNESSEE — More than 2,600 homes and businesses across Tennessee are without electricity Thursday morning, according to national outage tracking data.

PowerOutage.us reported about 2,638 customers statewide are without power as of the latest update Thursday morning. The outages represent roughly 0.08% of the more than 3.4 million customers tracked across the state.

Hamilton County reported the highest number of outages, with about 409 customers without electricity. Greene County followed with approximately 173 outages, while Rutherford County reported about 129 customers affected. Additional outages were reported in Shelby, Knox and Bradley counties.

By utility provider, the Electric Power Board of Chattanooga reported the largest number of outages with about 1,424 customers without power.

Smaller outages were reported by Greeneville Light and Power System, Middle Tennessee Electric Membership Corporation and Volunteer Energy Cooperative. Memphis Light, Gas and Water Division also reported outages affecting customers in the Memphis area.

Utility crews across Tennessee continued working Thursday morning to restore electricity to affected homes and businesses.
