Thousands without power in South Carolina

SOUTH CAROLINA — More than 2,100 homes and businesses across South Carolina are without electricity Friday morning, according to data from PowerOutage.us.

As of the latest update, 2,155 customers are without power statewide. That represents about 0.07% of the 3,067,295 customers tracked across the state. The figures were updated approximately seven minutes prior to publication.

Spartanburg County reported the highest number of outages, with 703 customers without power. Bamberg County followed with 369 outages, while Barnwell County reported 280 customers without electricity. McCormick County had 246 outages, and Greenville County reported 181.

Among utilities, Laurens Electric Cooperative reported the largest number of customers without service, with 689 outages. Edisto Electric Cooperative had 647 customers without power and the highest outage percentage at 3.04%. Duke Energy reported 324 outages statewide.

Statewide, South Carolina ranks eighth in the nation for total outages and sixth for the percentage of customers affected.

Utility crews are expected to continue working to restore service.
