Thousands without power in South Carolina

SOUTH CAROLINA — Power outages continue to impact thousands of customers across South Carolina as of Sunday evening.

According to the latest data, 3,968 homes and businesses are without electricity statewide. That represents approximately 0.13% of the 3,066,055 customers tracked across South Carolina.

South Carolina currently ranks sixth in the nation for the total number of outages and also sixth for the percentage of customers affected.

Out of the state’s 46 counties, Georgetown County has the highest number of outages, with 1,150 customers without power. Georgetown is also the hardest hit by percentage, with 2.66% of its customers affected.

Other counties reporting outages include Charleston County (636), Sumter County (341), Florence County (236), Colleton County (232), Lexington County (209), Anderson County (198), and Beaufort County (163).

A total of 38 utilities are tracked across the state. Santee Cooper reports the highest number of customers without power at 1,150. Meanwhile, Lynches River Electric Cooperative has the highest percentage of customers impacted, with 0.62% experiencing outages.

Utility crews are continuing restoration efforts across affected areas.
