Thousands without power in Pennsylvania

PENNSYLVANIA — A small but notable number of power outages are being reported across Pennsylvania as winter weather continues to move through the region.

According to PowerOutage.us, 2,734 homes and businesses are currently without electricity statewide, representing 0.04% of the 6,704,857 customers tracked. Pennsylvania currently ranks 15th in the nation for total power outagesand 17th nationwide for the percentage of customers affected, placing it among the less severely impacted states.

Outages are most concentrated in Schuylkill County, where 866 customers are without power. By percentage, Schuylkill County is the hardest hit area in the state, with 0.65% of customers affected.

Among the 17 utilities tracked in PennsylvaniaFirstEnergy reports both the highest number of outages and the highest percentage of customers impacted. The utility has 1,644 customers without power, accounting for 0.08% of its customer base.

Utility crews are continuing restoration work, and officials note that while outages remain limited, isolated disruptions are still possible as crews respond to downed lines or weather-related damage in affected areas.
