Thousands without power in Pennsylvania

PENNSYLVANIA — About 2,500 homes and businesses across Pennsylvania are without electricity Friday morning, according to data from PowerOutage.us.

The outage tracking service reported 2,524 customers without power out of more than 6.7 million customers monitored statewide, representing about 0.04% of customers. Pennsylvania currently ranks 16th in the United States for total power outages, according to the site’s latest update.

FirstEnergy reported the largest number of outages, with 1,494 customers without electricity. Other utilities reporting outages included PECO Energy Company with 546 customers affected and PPL Electric Utilities with 419.

Several counties reported outages Friday morning. Northampton County had the largest number with 767 customers without power, followed by Cambria County with 490 and Luzerne County with 244. Other counties reporting outages included Bucks County with 192 customers and Philadelphia County with 189.

Utility crews continue working to restore service in affected areas.
