Thousands without power in Ohio

OHIO — Thousands of Ohio residents are without electricity Saturday afternoon as scattered power outages were reported across the state, according to the latest outage tracking data.

As of Saturday afternoon, 6,009 homes and businesses are without power in Ohio. That represents approximately 0.11% of the 5,364,685 customers tracked statewide. The outage figures were updated within minutes of the report.

Compared nationally, Ohio ranked fourth among U.S. states for the total number of current power outages and ninth for the percentage of customers affected.

Out of Ohio’s 88 counties, Hamilton County was the hardest hit in terms of total outages, with 4,181 customers without power. By percentage, Hamilton County also experienced the greatest impact, with about 0.98% of its customers affected.

Power disruptions were reported across service areas of multiple utilities. Of the 32 utilities tracked statewide, Duke Energy had the largest number of affected customers, reporting 4,182 outages. Meanwhile, Licking Rural Electrification recorded the highest percentage of customers without power, with approximately 2.12% of its customer base affected.

Utility crews continue to monitor conditions and work toward restoring service as quickly as possible.
