OHIO — More than 34,000 customers were without electricity Wednesday morning after strong storms moved through the region, according to utility officials.
FirstEnergy reported widespread outages following powerful thunderstorms that swept across the area on March 31, prompting tornado warnings.
As of 11 a.m. April 1, outages were impacting multiple counties, with the largest number reported in Cuyahoga County, where more than 16,000 customers were without power.
Other affected areas included Ashtabula County with nearly 2,000 outages, Geauga County with more than 3,000, Lake County with over 6,700 and Lorain County with more than 3,300.
Officials said there is currently no estimate for when power will be fully restored.
Meanwhile, Cleveland Public Power said crews had restored electricity to about 75% of customers impacted by the storm.
Utility crews are continuing to work through debris, including downed trees and materials blown into power lines, as they attempt to restore service as quickly and safely as possible.
