Thousands without power in Ohio

OHIO — More than 7,800 customers across Ohio are without electricity as of Sunday morning, according to data from PowerOutage.us.

Statewide, approximately 7,830 homes and businesses are reported without power out of more than 5.4 million customers tracked, representing about 0.14% of customers.

The majority of outages were concentrated in Summit County, where about 7,226 customers were without power, accounting for more than 3% of customers in the county and making it the hardest-hit area in the state.

Other counties reporting outages include Ross County with about 177 outages, Portage County with 92, Stark County with 91, Geauga County with 67, Lawrence County with 39, Cuyahoga County with 33, and Wayne County with 22.

Among utility providers, FirstEnergy reported the highest number of outages, with about 7,561 customers affected. American Electric Power Ohio reported approximately 233 outages, while Duke Energy and AES Ohio reported smaller numbers of outages.

Ohio currently ranks among the top states nationwide for outages, placing third overall and third for the percentage of customers affected.

Restoration efforts are ongoing, and residents are encouraged to check with their local utility providers for updates.
