Thousands without power in Ohio

OHIO — More than 11,000 homes and businesses across Ohio are without electricity as of Friday morning, according to the latest outage data.

PowerOutage.us reports that 11,671 customers are currently without power statewide, representing about 0.22% of the more than 5.4 million customers tracked.

Allen County is reporting the highest number of outages, with 3,622 customers affected. Other counties with significant outages include Richland County with 1,209 outages, Hardin County with 1,201, and Preble County with 894. Van Wert County is also seeing notable impacts, with 629 customers without power.

By percentage, Hardin County is among the hardest hit, with nearly 9% of customers affected, while Allen County is reporting more than 7% of its customers without service.

Among utility providers, American Electric Power Ohio reports the largest number of outages, with 6,591 customers affected. FirstEnergy and AES Ohio are also reporting outages impacting thousands of customers.

Statewide, Ohio currently ranks among the highest in the nation for total outages, according to the data.
