
OHIO — Nearly 28,000 homes and businesses across Ohio are without electricity Friday morning, according to data from PowerOutage.us.
The outage tracking service reported 27,682 customers without power out of more than 5.3 million customers monitored statewide, representing about 0.52% of customers. Ohio currently has the second-highest number of outages in the United States, according to the site’s latest update.
FirstEnergy reported the largest number of outages, with 20,047 customers without electricity. Other utilities reporting outages included Duke Energy with 2,777 customers affected, American Electric Power Ohio with 2,119, and AES Ohio with 970.
Several counties reported thousands of customers without power.
Cuyahoga County had the largest number of outages with 6,621 customers affected, followed by Lorain County with 2,941, Erie County with 2,711, and Wood County with 2,668. Hamilton County also reported 2,381 outages, while Geauga County and Summit County reported 1,998 and 1,625 outages, respectively.
Utility crews are continuing to monitor outages and work to restore power to affected areas.
