OHIO — As of Friday morning, thousands of homes and businesses across Ohio are without electricity, according to the latest outage data.

Currently, 5,400 customers are without power statewide, representing about 0.1% of the 5,360,959 customers tracked across Ohio.

Despite the relatively low percentage of customers affected, Ohio ranks third in the nation for total outages and eighth for the percentage of customers impacted.

Franklin County is experiencing the largest number of outages, with 2,401 customers in the dark. It is also the hardest-hit county by percentage, with approximately 0.41% of customers affected. Other counties reporting outages include Cuyahoga, Hancock, Fayette, Vinton, Ashtabula, Geauga, and Allen, though at significantly lower levels.

Officials report that 32 utilities are being monitored across the state. American Electric Power Ohio has the highest number of outages, with 2,929 customers without service. Meanwhile, Buckeye Rural Electric has the highest percentage of customers affected, with about 0.23% experiencing outages.

Utility crews continue to work to restore service as conditions allow. No widespread cause for the outages has been officially announced.
