Thousands without power in North Carolina

NORTH CAROLINA — Thousands of residents across North Carolina are without electricity Tuesday morning, according to data from PowerOutage.us.

As of the latest update, approximately 2,108 customers are without power statewide out of more than 5.8 million tracked, representing about 0.04% of customers.

The largest number of outages was reported in Cherokee County, where 1,418 customers were without power, accounting for the highest percentage of outages in the state at just over 5%. Union County reported 106 outages, while Mecklenburg County had 77 customers without electricity.

Additional outages were reported in Franklin County, Randolph County, Bertie County, Carteret County and Bladen County.

Among utility providers, Tri-State Electric Membership Corporation reported the highest number of outages, with nearly 1,400 customers affected and the highest percentage of customers impacted at more than 76%. Duke Energy also reported several hundred outages statewide.

Restoration efforts are ongoing, and customers are encouraged to check with their local utility providers for updates.
