
NORTH CAROLINA — Power outages are affecting thousands of customers across North Carolina on Thursday morning, according to the latest data from PowerOutage.us.
As of the most recent update, approximately 2,086 homes and businesses are without electricity statewide, representing about 0.04% of the more than 5.8 million customers tracked. While the overall percentage remains relatively low, outages were scattered across multiple counties, with some areas seeing more concentrated impacts.
Granville County reported the highest number of outages, with 859 customers affected. It also had the highest outage percentage in the state at nearly 3%, indicating a more localized disruption.
Other counties with notable outages included Stanly County with 217 customers affected, Henderson County with 180, Alamance County with 163, and Mecklenburg County with 154.
Among utility providers, Duke Energy reported the largest number of customers without power, totaling 1,107 outages. However, Piedmont Electric Membership Corporation had the highest outage rate proportionally, with about 2.5% of its customers affected.
Statewide, North Carolina ranked among the top 10 states for total outages Thursday morning, though the percentage of customers impacted remained relatively small.
