NORTH CAROLINA — Thousands of customers across North Carolina were without electricity as of the latest outage update, according to statewide power tracking data.

As of the report, approximately 7,929 customers were experiencing power outages statewide out of more than 5.85 million customers tracked.

The outages were scattered across several counties, with Wake County reporting the highest number of customers without power at 3,287Buncombe County followed with 2,235 outages, while Mecklenburg County reported 493customers without electricity.

Additional counties impacted included Swain County with 317 outagesJohnston Countywith 240Mitchell County with 126Polk County with 120, and Nash County with 108.

Utility officials have not released a specific cause for the outages, though such disruptions are often linked to weather conditions, equipment issues, or localized damage. Crews typically prioritize restoration based on the number of customers affected and critical infrastructure needs.

Customers experiencing outages are encouraged to monitor utility updates and report outages directly to their service providers as restoration efforts continue.
