Thousands without power in Michigan

MICHIGAN — Tens of thousands of Michigan residents are without electricity Friday afternoon as scattered power outages were reported across the state, according to data from PowerOutage.com.

As of Friday afternoon, approximately 36,168 customers were reported without power statewide out of more than 5.06 million customers tracked. Outages were spread across multiple regions, with the highest concentrations reported in southeast and central Michigan.

Wayne County reported the largest number of outages, with about 7,617 customers without power. Oakland County followed with approximately 6,120 outages, while Macomb County reported around 5,701 customers affected. In Jackson County, about 5,131 customers were without service.

Additional outages were reported in Washtenaw County, where roughly 1,569 customers were affected, followed by Midland County with 1,074 outages. Barry County reported about 807 customers without power, and Gratiot County had approximately 739 outages.

Residents experiencing outages are encouraged to report them directly to their utility providers and to follow safety guidance while crews work to restore power across Michigan.
