Thousands without power in Michigan

MICHIGAN — Thousands of Michigan residents are without electricity Friday afternoon as power outages affected multiple counties across the state.

According to data from PowerOutage.com, a total of 48,001 customers are reported without power statewide as of Friday afternoon. The outage tracker was monitoring more than 5 million utility customers across Michigan at the time of the update.

Oakland County reported the highest number of outages, with 10,222 customers without power.

Several central Michigan counties were also heavily impacted, including Isabella County with 6,217 outages, Mecosta County with 5,877, Midland County with 5,569, and Clare County with 5,221 customers affected. Additional outages were reported in Gladwin County, where 3,189 customers were without power, followed by Newaygo County with 2,168 outages and St. Clair County with 1,670.

Utility crews are expected to continue working to restore service as conditions allowed. PowerOutage.com updates outage figures regularly as utilities report new information.
