Thousands without power in Maryland

MARYLAND — More than 2,500 homes and businesses across Maryland are without electricity as of Sunday evening, according to the latest outage data.

A total of 2,580 customers are reported without power statewide, representing approximately 0.1% of the 2,628,076 customers tracked.

Maryland currently ranks fifth in the nation for the total number of power outages and also ranks fifth nationwide for the percentage of customers affected.

Among Maryland’s 24 counties and Baltimore City, Howard County reported the highest number of outages, with 1,156 customers without service. Howard County is also the hardest hit by percentage, with 0.83% of its customers affected.

Other counties reporting notable outages include Baltimore County with 1,051 customers without power, Frederick County with 99, Prince George’s County with 91, Baltimore City with 61, Carroll County with 42, Montgomery County with 36 and Calvert County with 24.

Of the eight utilities tracked statewide, Baltimore Gas & Electric Company reported the largest number of customers without power at 2,313. The utility also had the highest percentage of customers affected, with 0.17% experiencing outages.

Utility crews were working to restore service Sunday evening. Customers are encouraged to report outages directly to their provider and monitor updates for restoration timelines.
