Thousands without power in Louisiana as outages increase

LOUISIANA — Widespread power outages are affecting communities across Louisiana as severe winter weather continues to impact the region.

According to PowerOutage.us, 121,937 homes and businesses are currently without power statewide, accounting for 5.26% of the 2,318,335 customers tracked. Louisiana now ranks fourth in the nation for total power outages and third nationwide for the percentage of customers affected, reflecting the significant impact of the storm.

Outages are most concentrated in Ouachita Parish, where 37,911 customers are without electricity. By percentage, Ouachita Parish is the hardest hit area in the state, with 45.67% of customers affected.

Among utilities, Entergy reports the highest number of outages, with 54,520 customers currently without powerPanola-Harrison Electric Cooperative has the highest percentage of customers affected, with 23.16% without electricity.

Utility providers warn that outage numbers could continue to change as crews work to restore service amid icy roads, fallen trees, and damaged power lines. Residents are encouraged to remain cautious and monitor local updates as restoration efforts continue.
