
KENTUCKY — Thousands of homes and businesses across Kentucky are without electricity Monday morning as utilities worked to restore service across the state.
According to outage tracking site PowerOutage.us, 18,694 customers are reported without power across Kentucky as of the latest update. The outages represent about 0.76% of the roughly 2.47 million customers tracked statewide.
Among the state’s 120 counties, Laurel County reported the highest number of outages with 2,876 customers without electricity. Other counties experiencing significant outages included Grayson County with 2,042 outages, Jefferson County with 1,400, Wayne County with 1,234, and Clinton County with 1,196 customers without power.
By utility provider, Kentucky Utilities reported the largest number of outages, with 4,274 customers affected. Other utilities reporting outages included South Kentucky RECC with 3,398 customers without power, Warren RECC with 2,820 outages, and Jackson Energy Cooperative with 2,451.
Statewide, Kentucky currently ranks sixth in the United States for the total number of power outages and also ranks sixth for the percentage of customers affected, according to the outage monitoring site.
Utility crews across the state continue working to restore power.
