
KENTUCKY — Thousands of residents across Kentucky are without electricity as winter weather continues to affect parts of the region.
According to PowerOutage.us, 48,297 homes and businesses are currently without power statewide, representing 1.96% of the 2,467,869 customers tracked. Kentucky now ranks fifth in the nation for total power outages and fourth nationwide for the percentage of customers affected, showing a significant impact compared to other states.
Outages are most concentrated in Pulaski County, which reports 8,649 customers without electricity. By percentage, Pulaski County is the hardest hit area in the state, with 20.93% of customers affected.
Among the 42 utilities tracked in Kentucky, South Kentucky Rural Electric Cooperative has both the highest number of outages and the highest percentage of customers impacted. The cooperative reports 18,156 customers without power, accounting for 25.73% of its customer base.
Utility officials caution that restoration efforts may take time as crews work through hazardous conditions, including icy roads and downed tree limbs. Residents are encouraged to remain cautious and stay informed through local updates as repairs continue.
