Thousands without power in Kansas

KANSAS — More than 2,000 homes and businesses across Kansas are without power Saturday morning, according to data from PowerOutage.us.

As of Saturday morning, 2,017 customers are without electricity statewide, representing about 0.14% of the more than 1.39 million customers tracked across Kansas.

Lyon County reported the highest number of outages, with 1,036 customers without power, accounting for about 5.85% of the county’s tracked customers. Sherman County reported 529 outages, affecting roughly 29% of customers there. Rice County reported 280 outages, followed by Wallace County with 66 outages and Marshall County with 29 outages.

Among utilities, Evergy reported the most outages with 1,063 customers affected. Midwest Energy reported 596 outages, while Ark Valley Electric Cooperative reported 290 outages. Nemaha-Marshall Electric Cooperative Association reported 42 outages, and the Kansas City Board of Public Utilities reported 11 outages.

Kansas currently ranks among the top 10 states nationwide for the number of reported outages, according to the tracking service.

Utility crews continue to monitor and address outages across the state. Customers are advised to contact their local utility provider for the latest updates on restoration efforts.
