Thousands without power in Illinois

ILLINOIS — More than 11,000 homes and businesses across Illinois are without electricity Wednesday morning, according to data from PowerOutage.us.

As of the latest update, 11,113 customers statewide are reported without power out of more than 5.7 million tracked customers. The outages represent about 0.19% of electricity customers in the state.

Kankakee County reported the highest number of outages with 4,188 customers without power.

Other counties with significant outages include Madison County with 1,322 customers affected, Jasper County with 1,287 outages and Richland County with 976 customers without electricity. St. Clair County also reported 620 outages, while Tazewell County had 489 customers affected.

By utility company, Commonwealth Edison reported the largest number of outages with 4,290 customers without power. Ameren reported 3,750 outages, while Norris Electric Cooperative listed 2,985 customers affected.

Statewide, officials continue to monitor the outages as crews work to restore service. Illinois currently ranks among the states with the highest number of power outages nationwide.
