GEORGIA — More than 50,000 customers in Georgia are without electricity Thursday morning, according to national outage tracking data.
PowerOutage.us reported about 50,620 customers across the state are experiencing outages as of the latest update early Thursday. Georgia Power accounted for a large share of those outages, with more than 21,000 of its customers without electricity.
The outages represented about 0.94% of the more than 5.3 million electric customers tracked in Georgia.
The outages come as power disruptions were reported across several states nationwide. In addition to Georgia, thousands of customers were without power in states including Washington, Mississippi and Louisiana.
Utility crews continued working Thursday morning to restore electricity to affected homes and businesses. Officials typically advise residents experiencing outages to report the issue directly to their local utility provider and avoid downed power lines, which can be dangerous.
Restoration times for customers were not immediately available Thursday morning.
