Thousands without power in Georgia

GEORGIA — More than 2,400 homes and businesses across Georgia are without electricity as of Sunday morning, according to the latest power outage data.

A total of 2,447 customers are reported without power statewide. That represents about 0.05% of the 5,334,318 electric customers currently being tracked across Georgia.

Georgia currently has the seventh-highest number of power outages in the United States and ranks 16th nationwide for the percentage of customers affected.

Among the state’s 159 counties, Baldwin County reported the largest number of outages, with 1,019 customers without electricity. Baldwin County is also the hardest hit by percentage, with about 4.65% of customers in the county affected.

Several other counties are also reporting outages. Franklin County has 539 customers without power, followed by DeKalb County with 395. Camden County reported 182 outages, while Fulton County had 127 customers without electricity. Burke County reported 29 outages, Houston County had 28 and Towns County reported 23 customers without power.

Outage data from 46 utilities across Georgia is currently being tracked. Washington Electric Membership Corporation reported the largest number of customers without power, with 1,032 outages. Washington EMC also has the highest percentage of customers affected, with about 6.45% of its customers without electricity.

Utility crews are continuing to monitor the outages and work to restore service.
