Thousands without power in Georgia

GEORGIA — As of Friday morning, about 4,200 homes and businesses are without electricity across Georgia, according to the latest outage data.

The outages represent approximately 0.08% of the 5,363,982 customers tracked statewide. Georgia currently ranks fifth in the nation for total outages and 10th for the percentage of customers affected.

Fulton County has reported the highest number of outages, with 847 customers without power, making it the most impacted county in the state.

It is also the hardest hit by percentage, with about 0.16% of customers affected. Additional outages have been reported in counties including Polk, Cherokee, Hall, Haralson, Coweta, Union, and Rabun.

Officials say 46 utilities are being monitored across Georgia. Georgia Power has the largest number of customers without service, reporting 1,558 outages. Meanwhile, College Park Power has the highest percentage of customers affected, with about 8.87% experiencing outages.

Utility crews continue working to restore service, and no widespread cause for the outages has been publicly confirmed.
