Thousands without power in Georgia

GEORGIA — More than 2,100 homes and businesses across Georgia are without electricity Saturday morning, according to data from PowerOutage.us.

As of Saturday morning, 2,187 customers statewide are experiencing outages, representing about 0.04% of the more than 5.3 million customers tracked across Georgia.

Lowndes County had the highest number of outages in the state, with 748 customers without power, accounting for about 1.18% of the county’s tracked customers. Forsyth County followed closely with 745 outages, while Cobb County reported 380 outages.

Smaller outages were also reported in Chattooga County with 62 outages, Fannin County with 48 outages, Gwinnett County with 46 outages, Clarke County with 42 outages and DeKalb County with 24 outages.

Among utility providers, Georgia Power reported the largest number of outages with 1,268 customers affected. Colquitt EMC reported 750 outages, Cobb EMC reported 50, Tri-State EMC reported 48 and Jackson EMC reported 19.

Officials continue to monitor outage conditions and restoration efforts across the state. Residents are encouraged to check with their local utility provider for updates and estimated restoration times.
