Thousands without power in Georgia

GEORGIA — Thousands of homes and businesses across Georgia are without electricity Tuesday afternoon, according to data from PowerOutage.us.

As of the latest update, approximately 2,227 customers are without power statewide, representing about 0.04% of the more than 5.3 million customers tracked. Georgia ranked sixth in the nation for total outages and 13th for the percentage of customers affected.

Chatham County reported the highest number of outages, with about 1,728 customers without service. Other counties with smaller numbers of outages included Camden County with 52 customers affected, Carroll County with 44 and Fulton County with 40.

Georgia Power reported the majority of outages, with approximately 1,926 customers without electricity.

By percentage, Chatham County was also the hardest hit, with about 1.01% of customers affected.

Restoration efforts are ongoing across impacted areas.
