Thousands without power in Florida

FLORIDA — Thousands of Florida residents are without electricity late Thursday morning, according to the latest statewide outage data.

As of the most recent update, 4,123 homes and businesses across Florida are experiencing power outages. That figure represents about 0.04% of the 10,898,601 electric customers tracked statewide.

Compared to other states, Florida currently ranks sixth nationwide for the total number of reported outages and 13th for the percentage of customers affected.

Outages were reported across several counties, with Palm Beach County recording the highest number. Palm Beach County had 832 customers without power, accounting for about 0.1% of its total customers, making it the hardest-hit county in the state by both total outages and percentage.

Florida’s electric grid includes 34 utilities. Florida Power & Light Company reported the most customers without service, with 2,927 outages statewide. Meanwhile, Withlacoochee River Electric Cooperative had the highest percentage of customers affected, with about 0.1% without power.

Utility providers continue to monitor conditions and work to restore service where outages have been reported.
