Thousands without power in Florida

FLORIDA — Thousands of residents across Florida are without electricity as of Sunday morning, according to data from PowerOutage.us.

As of the latest update, approximately 4,692 customers are without power statewide out of more than 10.9 million customers tracked, representing about 0.04% of all customers.

Duval County is reporting the highest number of outages, with 2,662 customers affected. Other counties with notable outages include Washington County with 802, Brevard County with 269, Broward County with 200, and Hillsborough County with 148 customers without power.

By utility provider, JEA is reporting the largest number of outages, with 2,687 customers affected. Gulf Coast Electric Cooperative and Florida Power & Light are also reporting outages across parts of the state.

While the overall percentage of customers impacted remains relatively low, Florida ranks among the states with the highest number of outages nationwide.

Utility crews are continuing restoration efforts, and service is expected to be restored to most affected customers as work progresses.
