Thousands without power in Florida

FLORIDA — More than 4,400 customers are without electricity across Florida as of Sunday evening, according to data from PowerOutage.us.

Officials reported 4,461 outages statewide, affecting about 0.04% of more than 10.9 million customers tracked.

The largest number of outages are reported in Polk County, where 1,390 customers were without power. Santa Rosa County reported 630 outages, while Duval County had 492.

Additional outages were reported in Pinellas County with 278 customers affected and Sarasota County with 269. Smaller numbers were also reported in Okaloosa County, Broward County and Miami-Dade County.

Utility provider Florida Power & Light Company reported the highest number of outages, with 2,079 customers affected. Other utilities reporting outages included Lakeland Electric, Tampa Electric, JEA and Duke Energy.

Florida ranked among the states with the highest number of outages nationwide Sunday evening, according to the tracking service.
