
FLORIDA — Thousands of homes and businesses across Florida are without electricity Wednesday afternoon, according to data from PowerOutage.us.
As of the latest update, 3,676 customers are without power statewide, representing about 0.03% of the more than 10.9 million customers tracked. Florida currently ranks fourth in the nation for the total number of outages and 17th for the percentage of customers affected.
The largest number of outages was reported in Duval County, where 1,293 customers were without power. Leon County followed with 1,133 outages.
Other counties reporting outages include Miami-Dade County with 465 customers affected, Broward County with 200, and Palm Beach County with 146 outages. Smaller outages were also reported in Alachua County, Manatee County and Escambia County.
Among utility providers, JEA reported the highest number of customers without power, accounting for 1,293 outages. The City of Tallahassee Utilities reported the highest percentage of customers affected at just over 1%.
Utility crews are continuing to monitor the situation and work to restore service as quickly as possible.
Residents experiencing outages are encouraged to report them to their local utility provider and follow safety precautions until power is restored.
