
SOUTH CAROLINA — More than 42,000 homes and businesses across South Carolina were without electricity as of the latest update, according to outage tracking data. A total of 42,878 customers were reported without power statewide, representing about 1.4% of the 3,061,392 customers tracked across South Carolina.
The state currently ranks seventh in the nation for the total number of power outages and sixth nationwide for the percentage of customers affected.
Pickens County is experiencing the most significant impact. Of South Carolina’s 46 counties, Pickens County has the highest number of outages, with 17,267 customers without power. By percentage, Pickens is also the hardest-hit county, with approximately 19.65% of its customers affected.
Utility providers across the state are reporting widespread disruptions. Among the 38 utilities tracked in South Carolina, Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative has the highest number of customers without power, reporting 21,987 outages. Haywood EMC reported the highest percentage of customers affected, with 100% of its customers currently without power.
Utility crews continue working to assess damage and restore service as conditions allow. No estimate for full restoration has been provided.
