TEXAS — More than 34,000 homes and businesses remain without power following a snow and ice storm across Texas as of Monday evening, according to the latest outage data.

Statewide, 34,870 customers remain without power, representing 0.22% of the state’s 15,513,705 tracked utility customers. Texas currently has the fourth-highest number of power outages in the United States and ranks 11th nationwide for the percentage of customers affected.

The most significant outages are concentrated in Shelby County, where 7,659 customers remain without power. That equals 48.04% of utility customers in the county, making Shelby the hardest-hit county in Texas.

Utility crews continue restoration efforts across the state as lingering ice, downed trees, and damaged power lines slow repairs in some areas. Of the 78 utilities tracked statewideDeep East Texas Electric Cooperative is reporting the largest number of outages, with 12,597 customers still without power.

By percentage, Deep East Texas Electric Cooperative is also the hardest-hit utility, with 28.21% of its customers remaining without power as recovery efforts continue.

Residents are encouraged to remain cautious, avoid downed power lines, and follow generator safety guidelines while crews work to restore service.
