SOUTH CAROLINA — More than 16,000 homes and businesses remain without power following a snow and ice storm across South Carolina as of Monday evening, according to the latest outage data.

The largest concentration of outages is in Pickens County, where 8,981 customers remain without power. That equals 10.22% of utility customers in the county, making Pickens the hardest-hit county in South Carolina.

Utility crews continue restoration efforts as icy conditions and downed trees impact power lines in parts of the state. Of the 38 utilities tracked statewideBlue Ridge Electric Cooperative is reporting the highest number of outages, with 11,723 customers still without power.

By percentage, Haywood Electric Membership Corporation (EMC) is experiencing the greatest impact, with 57.14% of its customers remaining without power as repair work continues.

Residents are encouraged to remain cautious, avoid downed power lines, and follow generator and heating safety guidelines while utilities work to restore service.
