TENNESSEE — Columbia Academy was evacuated Tuesday afternoon as a precaution following a nearby train derailment.
The school announced that bus routes would depart at 1:00 p.m. and asked parents of car riders to pick up their children promptly.
Parents unable to pick up their children were instructed to coordinate with the school office. The school also noted that there would be no extended care for students that day.
Officials emphasized that the evacuation only affects the Columbia campus; the Spring Hill campus is not impacted. Cleanup efforts from the derailment are expected to begin following the evacuation.
