
TENNESSEE — Numerous school systems across Tennessee will operate on delayed schedules or remain closed on Monday, December 15, 2025, as districts respond to hazardous morning conditions.
Several counties announced two-hour delays, including Cannon, Clay, DeKalb, Fentress, Grundy, Hickman, Houston, Jackson, Overton, Stewart, Van Buren, Warren, Bradley, Marion, Sequatchie, and Sullivan counties. City systems such as Bristol, Cleveland, Johnson City, Kingsport, Rogersville, Sweetwater, and Washington County schools will also open two hours late.
Smith County schools will open at 10 a.m., while Wesley Memorial Preschool will open at 10 a.m. Somerset Community College plans to open at 11 a.m.
A number of districts will be closed for the day. Those include Campbell County, Claiborne County, McMinn County, Scott County, Dayton City, Meigs County, Polk County, Rhea County, Carter County, Johnson County, and Unicoi County schools. Several Head Start and early learning programs are also affected, with modified schedules or closures.
Officials urge families to monitor local announcements for updates on afternoon activities and transportation as conditions improve.
