TENNESSEE — Several school districts in Northeast Tennessee will operate on a two-hour delay Monday, December 8, 2025, due to winter weather conditions in the region.
Carter County Schools, including Elizabethton schools, announced they will open two hours later than normal. School officials cited morning road conditions as the reason for the adjusted schedule.
Johnson County Schools, which serve Mountain City and surrounding communities, also confirmed a two-hour delay for Monday. The district advised families to use caution when traveling, especially on rural and higher-elevation routes.
In addition, Unicoi County Schools, including those in Erwin, will open two hours late. The district said the delay is intended to allow additional time for road crews to address icy spots and for temperatures to rise.
Families are encouraged to monitor district alerts for any further changes.
