Ten inches of snow expected in parts of West Virginia Thursday

WEST VIRGINIA — The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for portions of West Virginia, including Western Greenbrier County, from Thursday morning through Friday morning.

Heavy snow is possible, with total accumulations ranging from 2 to 10 inches depending on location.

Winds could gust as high as 40 mph, creating hazardous travel conditions and the potential for power outages due to downed tree limbs and power lines.

The affected areas include cities such as Quinwood, Rainelle, Elkins, Snowshoe, Summersville, and Webster Springs.

Hazardous conditions are expected to impact both Thursday morning and evening commutes.

Residents are advised to monitor weather updates, delay non-essential travel, and prepare a winter storm kit with items such as blankets, water, tire chains, and a flashlight. Travel should only be attempted with extreme caution.
