
OHIO — Akron police are investigating a shooting that left a 17-year-old boy injured Friday morning after he and a friend ran to a corner store for help.
Officers responded around 11:30 a.m. to the intersection of Yeager Way and Russell Avenue for reports of a shooting.
When they arrived, they found the victim in front of a nearby corner store, about a block from where the shooting occurred. He was taken to a local hospital and underwent surgery for his injuries, police said.
According to investigators, the 17-year-old and his 15-year-old friend were walking south on Yeager Way when they were approached by an unidentified suspect wearing a black puffy coat and a ski mask. The suspect fired several shots, striking the older teen twice. Both teens then ran to the store to seek help.
Police canvassed the area, but no arrests have been made.
