
ALABAMA — A male student at Williamson High School was detained Thursday morning after allegedly attempting to bring a gun onto campus.
Officials with the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office said the teenager had a .40-caliber pistol in his backpack. The school’s metal detectors alerted staff to the weapon.
Deputies reported that the student tried to flee when the alarm sounded, but the school resource officer quickly apprehended him.
No injuries were reported, and authorities said the investigation is ongoing.
