FLORIDA — An 18-year-old Forest High School senior was struck and killed by a car early Monday morning while walking to her bus stop, according to the Ocala Police Department.
The crash happened in the 1900 block of Old Blitchton Road, investigators said. Police have not released details on whether the driver involved remained at the scene.
“We are heartbroken by this devastating loss,” Forest High School officials said in a statement. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the student’s family, friends, and the entire Forest High community during this difficult time.”
Crisis counselors were made available on campus Monday to support students and staff.
The investigation into the fatal crash remains ongoing.
