TENNESSEE — A 17-year-old student at Maplewood High School is facing charges after a loaded firearm was discovered in his backpack Tuesday morning.
According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, the school’s weapon detection system alerted staff as the student entered the building.
A search of his belongings revealed a loaded semi-automatic pistol.
The student, a senior, will be charged in Juvenile Court with bringing a weapon onto school property and unlawful gun possession.
