
OHIO — A middle school student was arrested Friday after allegedly bringing a loaded gun onto school grounds, according to officials with the Cuyahoga Falls City School District.
The district announced the arrest shortly after 11 a.m. in a notice posted on its website.
According to school officials, students reported to the principal that a student may have been carrying a gun on campus. School administrators then enacted safety protocols and notified the Cuyahoga Falls Police Department.
Police identified the student and discovered the student was in possession of a loaded firearm before taking the student into custody, according to the district.
Following the report, the campus was placed on lockdown just after 11:30 a.m. for students in grades six through 12. District officials stated that all students and staff were safe during the incident.
The lockdown was lifted shortly before noon, according to the district.
Parents were advised that additional updates would be provided through the district’s ParentSquare notification system.
