WEST VIRGINIA — With snowfall and sharply colder temperatures expected, Gov. Patrick Morrisey has issued a State of Preparedness for all 55 counties in West Virginia.
The declaration will stay in effect through Thursday, Dec. 18, 2025, and is aimed at ensuring the state is ready to respond to any emergencies caused by the approaching winter weather. The governor’s order directs state agencies to prepare personnel and resources for possible deployment should conditions worsen.
As part of the declaration, Gov. Morrisey has granted additional administrative authority to the director of the West Virginia Emergency Management Division. This step is intended to streamline coordination efforts and allow for faster delivery of essential emergency services across the state.
State officials are encouraging all West Virginians to stay informed by monitoring local forecasts and media updates and to follow instructions from emergency management and public safety officials as snow and extreme cold move through the region.
