SOUTH CAROLINA — As communities continue to recover from a winter storm that brought snow, ice and hazardous travel conditions across parts of South Carolina, multiple school districts have announced their operating plans for Wednesday, February 4, 2026.
Delays and Modified Starts

• Union County Schools will also open on a two-hour delay Wednesday.
Normal Schedules Reported
Laurens County School District 56 and Oconee County schools are planned to operate on their normal schedulesWednesday.
• In the Midlands, several districts report regular operation for Wednesday, including Lee County, Kershaw County, Richland County School District 2 and Sumter County School District.
Closures and Adjustments
Newberry County schools are reported as closed for Wednesday.
• Fairfield County School District will open on a two-hour delay, according to local announcements in the Midlands.
Early Dismissals
Lexington County School District 3 has scheduled early dismissals Wednesday for several schools, including Batesburg-Leesville Primary, Elementary, Middle and High schools, each at staggered early times.
District decisions come as travel remains a concern in some regions due to residual icy spots on secondary roads and varying conditions following a weekend snowstorm. Officials said delays and closures are intended to support safer travel for students, staff and families.
