SOUTH CAROLINA — An Anderson County couple died Sunday from carbon monoxide poisoning while trying to heat their home, according to the Anderson County Coroner’s Office.
Emergency crews were called around 7 p.m. to a mobile home on Joe Black Road, where a man and woman were found dead. Investigators say the couple had been living in the residence without electricity.
According to the coroner, a generator had been running inside a bedroom to power a heater. The generator produced deadly carbon monoxide that filled the living space, leading to both deaths. The coroner ruled the deaths accidental.
The names of the victims have not yet been released, pending notification of family. Authorities remind the public that generators should never be used indoors.
