
WEST VIRGINIA — The West Virginia State Police will conduct a sobriety checkpoint Friday night along State Route 2 in Brooke County, according to officials.
The checkpoint is scheduled to run from 8 p.m. to midnight near Mahan Lane in Follansbee. State Police said the initiative is intended to deter impaired driving and promote roadway safety in the area.
Motorists who wish to avoid the checkpoint will have the option to bypass it by using Mahan Lane for southbound traffic and Mark Avenue for northbound traffic.
State Police are reminding drivers to avoid operating vehicles under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Officials also expressed appreciation to local residents and motorists for their cooperation and continued support of traffic safety efforts.
