OHIO — The Logan County Sheriff’s Office reported multiple traffic accidents Monday morning as snowy conditions made roads slick across the county.
At the time of the incidents, Logan County was operating under a Level 1 Snow Emergency, which advises drivers to use caution due to hazardous roadways.
The first crash occurred shortly before 6:30 a.m. in the 2400 block of County Road 57. According to deputies, a 2017 Ford Fusion driven by 26-year-old Rober Mewhorter of Kenton lost control, slid off the roadway, and struck a large rock in a yard before stopping near a tree line. Mewhorter was not hurt, and no citations were issued. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
A second accident took place just after 7:00 a.m. on U.S. Route 33 near State Route 117. Deputies say a 2019 Toyota Camry driven by 27-year-old Matthew Luettgen of Bellefontaine skidded off the road, hit a guardrail, and became stuck in a ditch. A passing tow truck assisted in removing the vehicle. Luettgen was not injured and was not cited.
Officials are reminding drivers to slow down and remain alert as winter weather continues to affect travel conditions throughout the area.
