OHIO — Authorities in Preble County are investigating after human skeletal remains were discovered Tuesday night near Lewisburg.
According to the Preble County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were notified around 8:15 p.m. of remains found at a property in the 7700 block of Eaton Lewisburg Road. The remains were located inside a small building on an unoccupied property.
Officials said they believe the remains had been there for an extended period of time. Investigators also indicated they believe the remains are those of a man.
The remains were transported to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office for examination on Wednesday as officials work to determine the identity of the individual and how long the remains had been at the location.
The case remains under active investigation by the Preble County Sheriff’s Office, the Preble County Coroner’s Office and the Preble County Prosecutor’s Office.
No additional information has been released at this time.
