OHIO — An adult and five children were taken to the hospital Thursday morning following a single-vehicle crash in Lake Township, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP).
Troopers responded to the scene around 6 a.m. on East Broadway near Keller Road.
Investigators say a 2015 Lincoln MKX, traveling southbound, failed to navigate a curve at a railroad crossing, left the roadway, struck the tracks, and overturned twice before landing upright.
The driver, who was wearing a seatbelt, sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
An adult passenger and five of the six children in the vehicle were transported to a local hospital with injuries that were described as non-life threatening.
OSHP reported that the adult passenger and all five hospitalized children were not wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
All individuals involved in the crash are residents of Detroit, Michigan. The incident remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
